Description:
This is a fine quality English Victorian pitch pine dressing table, circa 1890, in excellent original condition. The mirror is supported either side by curved supports, which are topped by turned finials. The mirror angle can be adjusted to suit your requirements. Below the mirror there is a central sunken well, flanked by the two pedestals, which feature angled corners, moulded tops and plinths and exhibit a stepped design. The stepped design comprises two smaller drawers above four graduated drawers. Below the sunken well is a further hidden drawer. All drawers are working, close flush to the frame, retain their original knobs and feature hand dovetail construction. Below the central secret drawer is a panelled backboard. The dressing table boasts ebonised detailing throughout, present in the finials, mouldings and cock beading on the drawers. The dressing table stands on the original plinths. Vertical supports secure the rear of the dressing table.
This dressing table displays a light but rich brown pitch pine colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a lovely colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and the years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms, especially the bedroom. This item would certainly grace any home and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional. So don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of antique furniture.
Condition Report:
This dressing table is in excellent condition having been polished in our workshops. There are nominal old use marks to the tops and leading edges, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. All the hand dovetailed drawers close flush to the frame and feature their original knobs. The dressing table benefits from a lovely colour and a wonderful grain configuration to the front and sides. This item is well made, solid in joint and ready to use.
