This is a superb quality antique English Victorian upholstered walnut cabriole leg chaise longue, circa 1860 - 1880.

This is a superb quality antique English Victorian upholstered walnut cabriole leg chaise longue, circa 1860 - 1880. The chaise boasts (when facing) a right hand arm, a raised sweeping back with detailed carved foliage and scrolls to the back. The back frame sweeps down finishing in a turned and carved spindle. The front of the chaise has a serpentine shape and a half circle open end to the left. The chaise is deep buttoned with pale pink fabric decorated in small patterns with relief blue and pale gold. The upholstery is in excellent condition. The chaise features the original porcelain castors, original detailed turned legs to the back and front. The frame and legs are constructed of solid walnut. The chaise can seat up to 3 persons.

Condition Report
In excellent condition - the arms and back of the couch are firm. The chaise has been re-upholstered some time ago in the upholstery you see. There are no marks, tears or rips to the upholstery, it is very clean. The braiding is in excellent condition and is firmly attached to the couch. The springs in the seat are firm and in good condition. There is a very old repair to the arm (which is now very firm). The porcelain castors are original. There is a slight curvature to the back legs but they are very firm. Free of wood worm, solid in joint and ready to use.
