Circa 1880, unusual five tier marble and walnut and ormolu mounted free standing etagere, probably by Morison’s & Co of Edinburgh. The mottled pink marble top is encased in a brass moulding, and below this are four elaborate shaped columns with cast brass facings at the top, at the base and on the feet. The brass mouldings are concave and crossbanded, and have brass castings on the side as well. Below the top section are 4 further tiers which are quarter veneered and crossbanded in walnut, and on the base below the bottom shelf is a simple shaped frieze with brass mounts on the front and back. Stylish piece of antique furniture.
