This vintage powder compact is suitable for use with modern loose & solid / pressed face powder or as a handbag mirror
It is not often you find sets from the 1950s completely unused. The case is decorated with grey & white flecks. The interior is lined with cream silk with 'Melissa' in gold letters set within a banner. The base is lined with crimson velvet. The convertible compact is suitable for all types of powder. The lid is decorated with embossed stars & stripes as is the gilt comb holder & lipstick holder. The compact comes with the original instruction leaflet, sifter signed pouch & foam puff. The mirror is excellent & gives a perfect reflection. The powder well & interior all gilt jeweller's / jeweler's finish. The base has ornate guilloche engravings. This compact measures 3". The comb is exactly as it should be with all the 'teeth'. The gilt handle provides an attractive contrast to the faux tortoise shell comb. The comb holder gorgeous gilt & decorated with stars & stripes. The comb holder measures 4 1/2". The lipstick holder is like new too & will hold lipstick tubes measuring 11mm. The lipstick holder measures 2 1/4".
