A good looking tall antique Victorian coopered oak barrel stick stand or umbrella stand dating from circa 1880. This piece probably originated as a rum barrel, it is heavy and well-made with oak staves and bound with 5 steel hoops and is still very solid and sturdy a testament to the skills of its craftsman. Of appealing, unusual tall form and character displaying a desirable age and patina with select oak staves with rich quarter sawn figuring, suitable for several sticks or umbrellas.
