Here we have a wonderful and very rare 17th century figured Elm gateleg drop leaf table c1680. As you can see the table has incredible colour and patina. There are two single planks of highly figured Elm to the top. The grain has been carefully chosen for its superior figure. Underneath there is a perfectly executed underteir with beautifully turned legs and gateleg action. The table retains the original hinges and is part of the feature of originality of the table. Of course the table is of pegged mortice and tenon construction. You will see from the photos the underneath is as it shoule be with dry crusty wood with darker patination to the edges where handled. Again pegs have not been cut off where not seen and in one photo you can the peg from the top coming through. The table is practical and a real period antique furniture purist peice. A super period table in great original condition ready for your home. The dimensions are approx (open) 29 inches wide 21 deep and 26.5 high. 12 inches deep closed.
