T. Smith -Sheffield . Longcase Clock

Longcase antique clock by Thomas Smith of Sheffield c1780
This 8 day ,silvered brass round dialis has retained its fine quality considering its age of 230 years old . The clock is totally original and has been recently serviced . Round dial clock of this type were very typical of longcase antique clocks made in the east midlands , south yorkshire and surrounding area
The case is of Oak and in very good condition , A swan neck pediment to the hood top which always looks very good above a round dial . The bezel, pillars and cross banding are of mahogany and contrast nicely against the oak case carcase .
Thomas Smith was working between 1777 and 1790 according to the book yorkshire clockmakers. He married in 1777 an Ann and had two sons Thomas and Robert .
