A stunning late 18th century 2 part Dutch burr walnut and marquetry bureau of Bombe form. The walnut inlaid with floral marquetry in exotic woods and veneers. The serpentine fall opens to reveal a fabulous stepped and shaped interior with 8 small serpentine shaped drawers, 2 pigeon hole drawers. The small central mirrored door cupboard contains another drawer and is flanked by a pair of Corinthian capped columns with secret compartments that slide out. The well is hidden by a sliding marquetry panel and the inside of the fall has an oval panel of marquetry. The lower section having 3 full width drawers which all retain the original brass handles and escutcheons and have working locks with keys. The sides of the bureau with conforming marquetry inlay and the whole is raised on the original well carved claw and ball feet and the linings and back are of solid oak. Dimensions:- Height…43’’/ 109cm. Max.Width…52’’/132cm. Max.Depth…27’’/ 69cm. Condition - Very good with a few old signs of minor repair. ALL TRADE ENQUIRIES WELCOME.
