Stunning Chinese marriage cabinet
A chinese late 18th early 19th
century marriage cabinet from the Shanxi Region .This would have been given as a marriage cabinet and they were usually in pairs and more common in red .when made the painted decoration would have been very vibrant however the course of time and wear have muted them although they are somewhat worn they are still faintly there and give a very interesting charm to its rich history .Offering a good storage with a shelf and lidded compartment with 2 drawers it retains its original bronze fittings .it is in good structural condition and built in traditional elm could be also used as a wardrobe.
