Stunning 19th Century Carved Anglo Indian Hardwood Cabinet %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
This is a stunning, really, decorative carved hardwood wall display cabinet that is Indian in origin, dating from around 1880. The piece is a most unusual and rare item with very ornate carved detail to the many panels, shelves and niche. The central display section with minaret has probably been used to house a shrine and is flanked by display shelves. The base has carved figures as deities includingHanuman the human with the face of a monkey and a long tail who is a central character in the Hindu epic Ramayana. Often described as the son of Pawan, the Hindu god for wind, Hanuman is known for his extraordinary daring feats. The screen has mirror plates added to the back for ease of wall hanging but it would equally stand on the back of a table or sideboard for imposing display in any room.
A most unusual and rare piece, it measures 104 cms high by 96 cms wide by 17 cms deep.

UK delivery is with our careful antique furniture courier and costs £60 plus vat to most destinations.
