Something Blue Gifts 1950s Stratton Compact
A beautiful 1950s enamel Bird Series Stratton 'Convertible' powder compact in new old stock (NOS) condition. This compact has not been used and has spent the last sixty plus years in the original box.
What a delightful vintage vanity! The enamel is gorgeous and in superb condition. Two enchanting Blue tits are perched on twigs. The background enamel is lustrous cobalt blue. All the brass was coated at the point of manufacture with a layer of transparent lacquer which mean this accessory will not tarnish nor need to be cleaned. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The mirror gives an excellent clear reflection. The mirror bezel is signed ' MADE IN ENGLAND STRATTON PATENT APPLIED'. The interior bears the patent number '764125'. The base is decorated in the famous Stratton star pattern. The whole compact gleams.
The compact comes in the original presentation box, beige felt pouch, instruction leaflet, velour edged sifter, padded paper insert and silk puff. The accessories are unused and even the box is still looking attractive. The cream cardboard box is decorated with a gilt embossed design which looks a little like a honeycomb. The box is constructed in such a way that the lid forms a stand in which to display the compact. The presentation box interior is gold and signed 'Stratton'. The base is lined with clean white satin.
This Stratton powder compact measures 8 cm and weighs 99.1 grams.
