Small Sheraton Occasional Table. Urn Stand C.1890.
This is a most attractive Sheraton revival occasional table urn stand. It is made in Mahogany with Satinwood marquetry, and overlaid with additional painted detail. It dates to about 1890-1900.
These tables were feature pieces of furniture, often well decorated and intended to make a statement. They could take a small urn, and the pull out tray would stand a cup under the tap for dispensing tea.
Octagonal in form, the 4 tapered legs are united by marquetry decorated cross stretchers and there are brass collars to the top of each of the legs and round brass 'caddy feet' to the toes, all of which are original.
Excellent condition throughout.
