Small Georgian oak longcase clock
A delightfully small oak longcase clock of very pleasing proportions.
The 8 day duration movement striking the hours on a bell and with a 12" square painted dial with both seconds and date to the centre and featuring matching blued steel hands. The corners painted with gold gesso work, foliage, carnations and roses. The highly desirable oak flat top case of good colour with a long trunk door and a plain base and standing on a single plinth. The hood with a flat top, plain oak pillars to the hood door terminating with brass Doric capitals and also with quarter pillars to the rear.
Note: Small oak longcase antique clocks from this period are rare. This particular antique clock is anonymous but was almost certainly made in the South of England probably either in Hampshire or Sussex.
Height: 6'4" / C.1805 P A Oxley Antique Clocks & Barometers have been established since 1971 and are Members of LAPADA & CINOA. We specialise in sympathetically restored antique longcase clocks, bracket clocks, wall clocks, barometers & vintage watches. All are guaranteed for 12 months.
