Shop Haberdashery Display Unit Drawers and Shelves

DESCRIPTION:
This is a super and very rare find these days. This is a shop haberdashery drawer and shelving storage unit dating from approx. c1890. It is constructed of mainly painted oak with pine shelving to the inside of the drawers and shelving. In the top back centre is has two mirror sliding doors the mirror are one way so you can see into the shop area from the other side. It has 8 deep drawers and 14 square storage compartments above with one double space where the mirror doors are set in. The unit has Brass pull handles that have been painted. The unit breaks down to two pieces making it easier to fit through doors and move about the drawers and the shelving area. This would make a superb feature in a kitchen repainted to suit décor or even in a sewing or craft room as well as in many commercial settings office, school or retail.

WORKSHOP REPORT:
This unit needs a good clean to remove old sticker residue and to lift it. It would of originally had glass sliding door on the top but these have been removed at some time and never replaced which could be done if you so required the runners are still there. There is as you would expect the odd bump bruise and mark throughout the unit all part and parcel of something this age in no distracts from the beauty but adds to the character. There is a strip of timber missing about 8-10ins long to the top right hand side front edge, other than that a good solid and very practical piece of furniture.
