A bold, impressive and rare set of 8 oak armchairs form the mid/late Victorian period. Of very good construction in solid English oak and decorated with crisply carved detailing in the Carolean style. The top rails are surmounted with carved catouches of crowns flanked by winged cherubs. The legs and uprights are nicely turned, the later being surmounted with finials. The sweeping arms terminate in scrolled ends. This set of chairs are of bold stature , they stand well and are free from all wobbles. The upholstery is in perfectly serviceable condition. We have given this set of chairs a good waxing in our workshops, they have a wonderful warm colour and patina. They are offered for sale in excellent condition, ready to go straight into the home.
