Set of 8 Hepplewhite style ladderback chairs
This set of 8 Hepplewhite style ladderback chairs were made circa 1920.
They were retailed by Thomas Clarkson, who were a long-established family business. Originally, they were clockmakers in the 18thc and then moved into furniture as generations went on.
The set of 8 dining chairs consist of 6 side chairs, and a pair of carver chairs.
The chairs have the classic moulded front legs all joined by stretchers to make these a robust set of dining chairs.
Using the classic designs of Hepplewhite, they chose to make the ladderback design with the exquisite carved detail, to the back rails and to the handgrips on the arms.
Each chair have drop in seats, this is a great feature, as it means that if you require, it is simple to recover them. The material is in fine condition and a neutral colour and so doesn’t need changing.
