Set of 6 Victorian walnut balloon-back chairs
Set of 6 Victorian walnut balloon-back chairs
These are a good quality set of six walnut balloon-back dining chairs dating to the mid Victorian period. The waisted rounded backs are carved and pierced to the top and have a carved cross rail. The D-shaped seats have serpentine fronts and deeply padded upholstery with a continuous band of narrow moulding below running along the seat rail and down the slender cabriole legs which terminate in scroll feet.
These are in good solid condition with no wobbles or signs of breaks and comfy well stuffed seats which appear to have been recently reupholstered in a red and cream jacquard. The wood has a lovely patina and has been waxed to a shine.
