Description:
This is a fine quality English set of eight antique George IV and later, mahogany bar back dining chairs, including two armchairs, with recently upholstered seats, circa 1830 and later, in excellent condition. The chairs are constructed from solid mahogany and feature curved a bar back, with a rounded, curved horizontal central splat, secured by vertical supports. The armchairs reflect the design of the side chairs, with the addition of scroll arms on shaped supports. The stuff-over seats have been recently upholstered in top quality luxurious ruby red velvet upholstery, with matching braiding. If you do not like the colour/style of the upholstery, we can re-cover the seats in a fabric of your choice, for an additional £50 per seat.
The seats have also been recently professionally re-stuffed and re-webbed. The undersides of the seats are finished with traditional webbing. The seats are firm but extremely comfortable to sit on. The chairs stand on tapering, turned legs at the front and sabre legs to the rear.
The chairs boast a rich brown mahogany colour. As they boast the original polish, they have a lovely colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning they have received.
This set of dining chairs would look superb in the dining room or boardroom. They would certainly grace any home and are a great investment as they are extremely functional. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of antique furniture.
Condition Report:
These chairs are in excellent condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, chair frame and legs, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The seat frames and joints have been restored at some point in the past (see photos of underside of seats). The stuff-over seat has been recently upholstered in top quality luxurious ruby red velvet upholstery. If you do not like the colour/style of the upholstery, we can re-cover the seats in a fabric of your choice, for an additional £50. The seats have also been recently professionally re-stuffed and re-webbed. The seats are firm, but it is extremely comfortable to sit on. Therefore, the seats are in excellent clean condition. The chair frame has been traditionally French polished and boasts a lovely colour and patination. The chairs sit firm on the ground and do not wobble. They are well built and heavy which is a sign of quality this set of dining chairs is solid in joint and ready to use.

We offer free delivery to mainland England, Wales, and Southern Scotland (anywhere south of Stirling). We do not offer free delivery to locations north of Stirling in Scotland, Northern Ireland, or any British Islands off the mainland for example, the Isle of Man, Isle of White and Channel Islands. Delivery times are usually 1-4 weeks depending on location we aim to deliver the majority of items within 2 weeks. All items are professionally packaged and fully insured in transit, therefore, we can assure you, your items will be securely protected in transit and arrive safely with you.
Once you have purchased an item, we will contact you be email and/or telephone and provide you with a provisional delivery date, in order for you to confirm if it is suitable for you. A free 14-day “no quibble” returns policy (from the date you receive the item) is available if you are not happy with this item. We will collect the item free of charge from you (we do not charge a return fee / collection fee). You will be given a full refund as long as the item is returned in the same condition. We will collect returns using our own specialist antique furniture delivery company. We will not accept returns via a courier service (due to experience of damaged items in transit).
