Serpentine Desk by Whytock & Reid of Edinburgh Serpentine Mahogany Desk %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
Circa 1900. A quality mahogany and leather top serpentine desk by Whytock & Reid of Edinburgh. Top with burgundy leather tooled and gilded writing panel, with two book matched flame mahogany panels each side. To the front is a bow fronted drawer in the center which is flanked by four graduating serpentine drawers to the sides. The tops of all the drawers are stamped’ Whytock & Reid of Edinburgh’, and have their original locks. Each of the drawers with cast brass oval handles with elegant back plates, all the drawers are lined with mahogany. Beneath the bottom drawers there is a moulding which follows the form of the pedestal, and the desk rests on eight stylish carved Whytock & Reid feet.
