We are pleased to offer for sale this very attractve, large Porcelain Table Lamp by the porcelain manufactory Von Schierholz in Plaue, Thuringia, Germany, which has been in operation since 1817. The base is marked with one of the recognised marks of this factory, as shown. As the lamp is marked Foreign on the base, it is possible that its intended market was outside Germany. The Von Schierholz Company has been renowned for its lithophanes from its very beginning and has over 2000 designs in its portfolio.

The lamp, and its porcelain shade, are encrusted with flowers, and feature four figures dancing around a tree, two men and two girls. The pierced lampshade features four lithophane oval plaques like cameos that glow with four different pictures when the lamp is lit. Please see our photographs for examples.

As we couldn't find the exact mark on the base but only those very similar to it, we would estimate this lamp to be mid-twentieth Century.

The lamp has been rewired with gold coloured fabric covered flex, has a new plug and an inline on/off switch. As with all electrical items it is recommended that it be checked by a qualified electrician before use.

Condition: Excellent. The lamp and shade are in clean condition and working order with no apparent damage.
