Regency Period English Fusee Convex Dial Timepiece

We present for consideration, this outstanding Regency period English fusee wall clock with convex dial, by master watch and clockmaker Samuel Allport of 83 Bull Street, Birmingham.
Born in Birmingham, c1788, Allport served his apprenticeship under William Waight of Birmingham from 1802, and went onto become a prolific and well-respected clockmaker, (becoming famous for some of the magnificent grandfather clocks, he made under commission, some of which now reside in England’s larger museums). Later in life, (from c1846), Allport turned his attention to primarily producing fine high-end pocket watches, which he also excelled at.
Allport passed away in 1858, leaving a large family behind him, some of whom followed their father into watchmaking.
• Narrow solid flame Mahogany turned roundhead face, that sits over its boxed cabinet.
• Hinged inspection door located to the side of the box.
• Operable lockable regulator door located at the bottom of the box.
• Convex metal dial, with black Roman numerals and Allport’s details.
• A pair of blued Straight Breguet hands, secured with a pinned collet.
• Original convex glaze mounted in a brass bezel.
• 8-day single fusee movement set between shouldered plates and knopped pillars.
• Comes with its brass pendulum, a door key and winding key.
