Regency pair of Tulipwood marquetry pole screens
A rare pair of Regency tulipwood & satinwood marquetry polescreens, the serpentine shaped screens crossbanded in tulipwood and centred by beautiful marquetry floral sprays on an ebonised ground bordered by scrolling acanthus leaves. A brass ring attachment on the oak back allows the height of the screen to be easily adjusted on the upper section of the pole whilst the base of the pole is shaped and turned. The poles are set into stepped and reeded square platform bases supported on brass lion paw feet.
In good original condition, there is a small sliver of veneer missing from the bottom of one screen, the upper pole sections are rubbed so could do with some stain (we can do that), the bases have gathered marks over the years consistent with use and half a brass ‘spring’ is missing from the back of one but does not effect the use.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or for more photos, remember to include you email address.
The overall dimensions at the largest points are approximately
Bases 28cm (11in) square
Pole129.5cm (51in) high
Screens 29.5cm wide x 37.5cm high (11 5/8in wide x 14 3/4in high)
Ref 0252
We can arrange to deliver to most UK mainland destinations for £85. Please appreciate all our items are antique and as such may have minor scratches, marks, knocks, shrinkage splits signs of old woodworm, and minor losses to veneer, which combine with care and years of polishing to create an individual character and patina. We cannot describe each marks separately and therefore suggest you do take the time to request extra photos. We do offer a 14 day money back guarantee for UK purchases but cannot refund the return shipping cost.
