Regency Mahogany Sarcophagus Wine Cellarette %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
An elegant early 19th-century Regency mahogany sarcophagus-form wine cellarette, offered by Hutton-Clarke Antiques. Of bold architectural design, the hinged lid is raised with a stepped and panelled top, opening to reveal a clean renovated interior for bottles. The tapering sides are framed with fine turned mouldings, resting on well-carved gadrooned bun feet. The rich, well-figured mahogany displays a fine patina, enhanced by the crisp detailing and strong proportions. A striking piece of Regency furniture that combines both style and practicality. Possibly by Gillows of Lancaster. Lee lock with period loop key.
Height 48 cm, width 77 cm, depth 51 cm
