Regency mahogany Longcase Clock by Clarke, Dublin
The mahogany case stands 7 feet 10½ inches tall, the panels each inlaid with contrasting stringing. The architectural pediment is surmounted with a wooden finial, and is edged with a crenelated moulding over a blind fretwork frieze. The freestanding columns are fluted. The crossbanded long trunk door has a shaped top, and is flanked with fluted quarter pillars. The base and door have lovely flame mahogany veneers.
The original 13-inch cream painted dial is signed for the maker William Clarke, Dublin. It has a subsidiary seconds indication dial. The numerals and name have been re-highlighted.
Original matching steel hands.
The movement is 8-day, rack striking on a bell.
