This is a fine and impressive English balloon antique clock of the very finest quality made circa 1810 which is in the most wonderful colour and was previously exhibited at Cannon Hall , Cawthorne Barnsley.The 8 inch painted dial is signed with the makers name and address and has a strike silent lever under 12 o'clock.
James Upjohn was apprenticed to his esteemed father with whom he worked in partnership until 1795 thence on his own
The substantial round plated double fusee movement is beautifully made and strikes the hours on a bell. It also has a very unusual tapered pendulum bob. There is a pull repeat facility operated by a cord.
This movement is in perfect working order having been recently professionally serviced.
The balloon shaped case is veneered in mahogany and the front is cross banded with satinwood and has a an urn paterae. It has brass carrying handles with ball feet. The pagoda shaped top is summounted by a cast pineapple finial
As can be seen from the images this clock is in excellent condition throughout and is ready to be displayed in the home.
​This impressive clock is 24 inches tall . The width is 12 1/2 inches and the depth 7 1/2.
