Rare Stratton Ballet / BALLERINA musical box
Very rare Stratton 'Musica' ballet / ballerina musical powder boxes Svetlana Beriosova 'SLEEPING BEAUTY' 1950s enamel musical powder boxes
Such a rare opportunity to acquire a working Stratton 'Musica' with a delightful enamel ballet scene on the lid. The powder box is in superb condition & it comes complete with the original pouch, puff & sifter which are in excellent condition . The enamel scene is gorgeous & shows Svetlana Beriosova dancing (Sleeping Beauty). The lid is excellent & does not have any enamel fading or loss. I have taken three photographs of the lid to show how delightful it is - all three photos of the lid are taken close-up to show how good the enamel is. Originally this scene was taken from a photograph by the society photographer Baron & it bears his signature. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The bevelled mirror is excellent & it gives a perfect reflection.Turn the winder four times, pull up the stopper and the musical box plays its enchanting tune.
The tune plays for just over one minute. This is a sound little musical box that plays well.
This Stratton 'Musica' measures 3 1/4" X 2 3/4" & weighs 173.4 grams.
