Here we have a wonderful rare Norfolk Oak George III chest on chest c1800. As you can see the chest has fantastic colour and patina. This piece has been in a Norfolk farmhouse for its entire life and is very typical however rare of a Norfolk piece of furniture. This obviousley comissioned piece is cabinet maker made in the town style having an extended moulded pediment finished in cross banded Yew and drawers with thumb moulded edges and fancy original handles. Instead of the usual wavy moulding seen on Norfolk chests this has been depicted with a brass wavy inlay under the pediment and to the top of the base. There are also typical tall bracket feet but even these have been pimped with internal fret work spandrels. This incredibly rare chest on chest is of slim proportions and has solid Oak drawer linings and solid Oak rear boards. The top drawers have a locking mechanism on the underside which is attached by the original hand made Rosehead nails. A truly wonderful chest on chest in excellent retail condition ready for your home. The dimensions are approx 186 cm high 104 cm wide 50 cm deep.
