A wonderful and rare compact mirror. This powder compact would make an ideal silk (12th) wedding anniversary gift. The enchanting lid is silk rendered to look like an oil painting. The minutely detailed scene depicts a Georgian couple having High Tea in an elegantly appointed dining room. The lid is like a little work of art and it has a textured appearance just like an oil painting. There isn't any loss of design or fading. The original sifter is included and also a good quality felt pouch which has protected this vanity well. The hinge and catch work perfectly. The mirror gives a good clear reflection. The mirror bezel is signed STRATTON MADE IN ENGLAND. The powder well is gilded. The base is decorated with a fine spiral. Measures 3 inches diameter and weighs 64.9 grams.
