Rare Charles I Oak Child’s Coffer c. 1630 charles I 1st %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
A substantial but small and beautiful six board oak coffer with original split pin iron hinges and original timbers with forged nailed fixings, thumbnail borders and splayed V board feet.

With a fabulous colour and superb natural patination that only 400 years of use, wax and care can produce. The chest was made as a purely functional piece of antique furniture to store precious items and it was probably made for a child.

Heavy and robust. Retaining original wire hinges, the iron lock plate is original also and much remains of the riveted hasp.

Made by hand in c. 1630 , alovely solid and early example of great charm and particularly good colour and patina and of very rare small size.

Dimensions are:

21 inches wide, 13 inches deep and 13 inches high.

For metric please multiply by 2.5
I describe and photograph my pieces accurately and with the aim that on arrival each will exceed expectations.

I operate a full refund guarantee and am always happy to give free, honest and friendly advice.
