Quirky 1950s Mascot Handbag Shaped Music Box
A very quirky and rare unused 1950s Mascot brand handbag shaped musical powder compact which is presented with the signed puff, sifter and high quality wool felt pouch.
The lid is embellished with high quality iridescent mother of pearl and abalone.
The iridescent colours change in the light from black to green, purple, yellow and pink.
Adorable!
The music plays very well indeed.
The base is decorated with an engine turned design of tiny diamond shapes.
The interior case contains a mirror which gives a good and accurate reflection.
There is a slight age mark on the mirror.
The inner lid is decorated with an engraved design and signed Mascot ASB.
All hinges and the inner lid catch work perfectly.
However, this music box is delightfully quirky and therefore rarer than you might think because the maker put the exterior handle which serves as a latch on the wrong way round.
Therefore the exterior catch does not latch.
The pink puff is signed Mascot ASB.
