Remarkable pair of late 19th.c. scrap work folding screens or room dividers c.1890. Very slight difference in dimensions but both have three panels with solid mahogany frames and brass bi-fold hinges with pointed finials and pierced brass galleries across the tops. Very densely worked decoration to both sides of each screen made of coloured illustrations on paper carefully cut and glued into place. The illustrations used make an interesting reflection of Victorian popular tastes with lots of images of childhood and lady’s fashions, military heroes, folk scenes, nursery stories, sailors with their sweethearts, dogs, birds and insects. Some minor wear, generally very good condition.
