We are offering for sale this unusual pair of gilt bronze candlesticks, cast as female Dragons. They have two front legs, batlike wings and a reptilian body and tail, with a lions head and breasts. Each dragon is holding in its mouth a ball, from which issues a foliate scroll, terminating in the drip tray and candleholder, with removable sconce. They are unmarked, but have been cast with great detail, particularly the tracery on the wings and body.
