Here we have a good pair of Arts & Crafts Brass Candlesticks with white metal cabochons on the base. There is a fleur de lys decoration around the sconces and engraved foliate decoration between the cabochons on the bases.

One of the key aspects of the Arts & Crafts movement was a harking back to a perceived \"Golden Age\" of medieval craftsmanship and these candlesticks a very much a late 19th century take on a medieval style. The cabochons show their hammered marks and have a little tail, whilst the engraving on both sconces and bases has been done by hand.

As is usually the case with brass candlesticks, there are no makers\' marks to identify them.

Condition is good with no dings or dents. One stick has a very slight lean to one side. The cabochons are attached to the base by a hammered staple and do have a little movement to them, which may always have been the case. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The candlesticks are around 18cm / 7ins tall. One has a second lip on the sconce which makes it a couple of millimetres taller than the other. The pair weigh 626g / 22oz.
