We are pleased to offer for sale this unusual and heavy pair of Victorian Swedish brass Candlesticks. They have a hexagonal base with a hexagonal mid drip supported by 6 beautifully cast mermen figures. The mid drip has cherub heads with wings on each of the six corners. The central knop is chased, as is the shaped base, the whole standing on 3 turned brass feet.

When we were checking the origin of these sticks, we found that they had a similarity to some Dutch and Flemish candlesticks, but the nearest example that we found that was plainer, but of very similar shape, was Swedish and mermen figure in Swedish mythology.
