Ormolu Mounted Mahogany Bracket Clock
This is a fine and unusual English bracket antique clock dating from the reign of George 111 which is decorated with ormolu mounts
The 8 inch silvered brass dial is well engraved and has a subsidiary dial in the arch to give the owner the facility to turn the strike on and off at will. The original pierced steel hands are present.
The arched top case uses the finest mahogany veneers of good flame and of outstanding colour which are enhanced by the liberal use of ormolu mounts and finials .I particulary like the cast leaf design door which makes the clock look very impressive indeed.
The sides retain their original pierced sound fretts and carrying handles . Eagle ball and claw feet are mounted on all corners.
The glazed rear door gives access to the substantial 8 day duration bell striking double fusee movement which has been professionally restored and in perfect working order. The backplate is well engraved with scrolls and a vase.It has anchor escapement (formally verge)
The clock is 17 inches tall . The maximum width is 14 1/2 inches and the depth 9 1/2.
This clock is fully restored and in outstanding condition with an excellent colour and shine.
Like all antiques there are the odd age related marks as can be expected on any item of this age but I am certain that the most discerning client will not be disappointed.
This is a genuine and original clock and I offer a full money back guarantee to this end.
Any potential clients are very welcome to view the clock prior to purchase (or pay on delivery)to ensure that they are satisfied with their purchase.
This clock is much nicer in the flesh and looks superb .
If the asking price is paid in full then I will deliver and set up the clock free of charge to the English mainland,Wales and the Scottish lowlands.I will also provide a 12 months guarantee under these circumstances. This is the same service that is provided by a high street retailer without the customer having to pay for the overheads
If a lesser off is accepted then this will be sold as a trade sale with the clock as described and with shipping costs the responsibility of the buyer.
