Description
This is an extremely rare and beautiful ormlou mounted miniature timepiece carriage antique clock with thermometer and agate lozenges panels to the side and a malachite cabochon to the top which is in wonderful original condition.
The case is beautifully engraved on all sides as is the 1 1/4 inch silvered dial.
The rear of the clock displays a thermometer with the readings in English . It also has sliding dust covers for winding and time set
Rarely do exceptional pieces such as this appear on the open market as they are generally cherished in collections although I doubt that there are many of the quality of this particular antique clock.
My clock is sold with the movement serviced by a member of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers.
I have included a selection of photographs that accurately represent the item , one of which shows the scale next to a standard size repeating carriage clock.
The clock is of English manufacture dating from the last quarter of the 19th Century. It retains its original gilding and platform escapement . The movement has a running duration of 8 days.
The clock is 3 1/2 inches tall with the handle raised , 2 1/2 inches wide. The depth is 2 1/16 inches.
It has obviously been well cared for and cherished all its life.
I am unable to determine with certainty the maker..
