Mc CABE, LONDON . CIRCA 1820
A small and rare month duration Regency longcase clock. A fine quality satinwood case with painted floral inlays. The Prince of Wales Feathers and a portrait to the trunk door. Splayed feet to the base with rosewood crossbanding. A small pagoda pediment surmounted by the original finial. An arched painted dial with floral decorations to the corners and centre with blued steel hands. A month duration timepiece mechanism with shaped plates, a brass cased weight and 'London' short flat rod pendulum.
The Mc Cabe family of clockmakers are noted as fine makers. This antique clock by repute was made for one of the Prince Regent's mistresses as a bedroom clock as it is a timepiece only and has his portrait and plumes to the door.
