Mid Victorian Rosewood Whatnot/Music Stand rosewood Victorian whatnot %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
Circa 1860, unusual solid rosewood mid Victorian whatnot/music stand. The top section is hinged and has adjustable height bars at the back. The top itself is square with open fretwork which is in the form of Prince of Wales plumes at the corners and foliate decoration. The centre has a glazed panel with a proud beading and a fine piece of needlework with a lady and gent giving generously to an elderly gentlemen and a child. Underneath is an apron with open fretwork in a repeating trellis style, barley sugar supports and 2 further tiers with rounded corners. Below the bottom tier are 4 bulbous turned feet finishing on brass tipped castors. This whatnot/music stand is of exhibition quality, and has excellent colour and patination.
