This is a pair of top quality hand-painted baluster-shaped Chinese table lamps made in the third quarter 20th Century (probably 1970's).

The scenes decorating the lamps are populated with numerous figures, objects and vegetation, depicted within a palace environment, all of which are finely detailed. Though the compositions are identical on both lamps, the hand-wrought nature of the work means there are subtle differences throughout giving each lamp a unique feel.

The lamps stand on carved stained wooden plinths and have brass fittings at the top.

One of the lamps retains a small oval label with 'Made in Hong Kong' on the underside.

Condition:
The lamps are in excellent condition though the brass fittings are somewhat tarnished (and look better for it in our opinion). They have been professionally rewired, one of the lamp holders replaced and the lamps high voltage tested. They are not sold with shades but I would recommend acquiring shades with an 18" (46cm) diameter at the base.
