Liberty & Co. Two Tier Japanese Side Table c.1910
Early 20th.c. Japanese carved two tier table as retailed by Liberty & Co c.1910. A particularly nice example, the top beautifully carved as a carp pond with large coy carp, water plants, a kingfisher and water and cloud detail. Lower shelf carved with matching water and plant patterns and a simple bamboo leaf detail to the legs. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
Capitalizing on fashion for Japanese design and the exotic these antique tables were commissioned and imported by Liberty & Co for retail in their London store and mail order catalogues in the early 1900’s.
