Lovely little late 19th.c. oak three tier bookshelf or reading table by Leonard Wyburd for Liberty c.1890. In solid oak with turned staves and moorish lattice sides. Excellent condition with original black porcelain and brass castors.
Leonard Wyburd (1865–1958) was just 18 when he was appointed head of the Liberty Furnishing and Decoration Studio, going on to produce an iconic range of quality which combined the exotic influenes of moorish, arabian and oriental antique furniture (see his famous Thebes stool) with the European Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts movements to create what became known as the ‘Liberty’ style.
