Late 19th / Early 20th C. Silver Plated Soup Ladle
This is a very good quality large Silver Plated Soup Ladle in the classic Fiddle pattern with a high arched stem. The ladle dates to the late 19th or early 20th century. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The soup ladle is made in Birmingham by Daniel & Arter. The partnership was founded around 1880 by Thomas Daniel and Thomas Arter and set up business at the Globe Nevada Silver Works in Birmingham. They almost exclusively produced high quality silver plate with only a tiny amount of Sterling Silver manufactured. The firm went out of business around 1930. This ladle dates to somewhere between 1880 and 1914.
Condition of the ladle is very good with no dings or dents, no significant plate loss and only the superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 100 years of service.
The soup ladle is 30.5cm / 12.25\" long and weighs 254g / 8.9oz.
The marks on the underside of the stem are nice and clear to read. They show A 1 for the best quality silver plate, the cross-hatched globe for the Globe Nevada Silver Works and the D & A beneath a crown makers\' mark for Daniel & Arter that was used prior to World War One.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Hermes Tracked & Signed Courier.
