WMF Art Nouveau dish c1890. Beautifully modeled flowers on sinuous stems - trailing stems forming the double main and side handles. WMF Art Nouveau design at its best! From its marks, this dish would have originally had an antique (dark) silver finish. Perhaps a previous owner had not appreciated this or perhaps was a little overzealous with their polish! The dish could be re-silvered however the brass has developed a very attractive patina and the dish is a fabulous display piece as it is. Stamped with the WMF mark used between c1885 and c1895 together with the letter M which signifies brass as the base-metal. This WMFM mark being rare. The stamped mark "a/s" refers to the antique silver plating finish and i/o to the gauge of plating. Length including handles is 43.5cm, width 20.5cm and height 6.5cm.
The dish is in very good overall condition. No obvious loses/wear to the design and very minor surface abrasions commensurate with its age. Please see images as these form an important part of the description. Viewing by appointment only.
