Large Lidded Brass Bowl, Kinco, Surrey, c.1923-39
Here we have a very decorative Large Lidded Brass Bowl from around the 1920s/30s. The circular bowl is decorated like a persian carpet with panels of intricate intertwining floral designs which have been hand coloured in red and black. The interior has a gold coloured wash.
The bowl was made in England as part of the KINCO range and dates to between 1923 and 1939. KINCO was the trademark of the firm British Metal (Kingston) Ltd, who were based in Kingston-upon-Thames in Surrey and later in St Margarets near Twickenham. Between 1923 and 1939 they produced a wide range of distinctive decorated brass ware of very high quality drawing inspiration from Egyptian, Persian, Indian and Chinese designs, which were hand coloured and then lacquered. In 1939 the firm converted completely to war work and never returned to decorative brass items.
Condition is very good, with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The bowl is 21.6cm / 8.5ins in diameter and stands 14cm / 5.5ins high. It weighs in at 1.12kg / 39.4oz.
The underside of the bowl is stamped KINCO and Made In England and the inside of the lid is also stamped KINCO.
Shipping in the UK is £8.00 by Royal Mail Tracked 24.
