This is a large antique shipping trunk. An English, stained pine travel or tool chest, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1880.
Of generous size for voyages beyond the sea or near to home
Displays a desirable aged patina with weathered appearance
Dark stained pine shows wear commensurate with age and use
Wide, deep interior presented in a pleasingly clean order
Iron bindings to each corner add a dependable solidity to the frame
Dressed with a small lock escutcheon to front — key absent
Iron drop handles to each side, mounted on substantial backplates
Standing upon a continuous plinth foot, ideal for the rigours of travel
