We are delighted to offer for sale this 19th Century gilt metal and alabaster Mantel antique clock by Japy Freres marked A. Carlhian and Beaumetz A Paris, the 8 day movement marked Brevetes. S.D.G 9089, the cast figural clock depicting a classically dressed reclining female (possible the Greek Goddess Urania, the Goddess of Astronamy), on stepped shaped base, with bell striking movement, complete with pendulum and key.
The clock strikes the hours and half hours and is keeping excellent time. PriceSOLD DimensionsHeight 14 3/4" - 37.5cm Width 18 1/2" - 47cm Depth 16 11/16" - 17cm Category Antique Clocks Date Late Victorian Late Victorian Antiques Material Spelter Origin French Maker Japy Freres Condition Excellent. There is an old repair to the alabaster underneath the figure which is not visible. The clock is keeping excellent time and the metal is in immaculate condition with no damage, although one foot has been replaced at some stage in the past (not visible as it is underneath and is identical but without the pattern).
