Art Deco Clock with Elephant & Tigers by Rochard
A magnificent Art Deco clock featuring an impressive sculpture in the Japanese Meiji style, depicting two tigers in mid-attack on an elephant. Cast in cold-painted spelter, the scene is intricately detailed, with one tiger clinging to the elephant’s back and the other lifted by its raised trunk. The elephant is adorned with ivorine (faux ivory) tusks, adding a refined touch to this rare and dynamic piece.
The clock is set within a finely crafted green onyx and marbled case, framed with elegant gold accents, and rests on a base of richly patterned marble and onyx, exemplifying the geometric elegance of the Art Deco period.
The sculpture was created by renowned artist of Art Deco period, I. Rochard, with signature visible on the elephant’s leg.
In very good, vintage condition with a beautifully preserved patina, minor signs of age and use as to be expected.
The clock movement is in working condition.
Dimensions:
Length: 64 cm
Max Depth: 14.5 cm
Base Depth: 12.5 cm
Height: 41.5 cm
