Japanese Parade Sword.

1 of 5
A world war two Japanese cavalry officers parade sword. In the majority of cases this weapon is found with a polished stainless steel blade and a Hamon produced with acid and although these swords are not rare they are rarely found in good condition. This sword is different in that the backstrap sports the silver Mon of a Samurai family (Mon.)A mon is a Japanese family crest. Mon are hereditary being handed down the male Samurai line. An officer could if he wished have his mon affixed to the hilt of his sword. Mons can be found on all types of Japanese sabres except Police swords. This is probably because the military services tended to attract those from ex-Samurai and better class families. This sword has an Ancestral blade. It has some small pitting patches and staining and at some time has been sharpened. Probably done when the home forces in 1945 expected the Americans to invade. The Gnome Hamon is very faint and can be seen on the blade but only for four inches or so towards the hilt. The blade will need to be submitted for a professional polish for the Hamon's beauty to be revealed. The hilt is loose but nothing serious. The hilt wire is good as is the grip. The steel scabbard has patches of light pitting and staining. This pattern of sword is very rarely found with an Ancestral blade. Post cost will be fifteen pounds in the UK.You must be 18 years old to buy this weapon.
