Italian Florentine paint and gilt chest
Super decorative Italian Florentine paint and gilt 3 drawer chest with "bombe" sides and serpentine front, circa 1900.
Wonderful detail to this chest and the aged paint and gilt give a fabulous effect.
For a small size chest, the Italian paint and gilt style certainly stand out and make a real statement.
As you can see, there is plenty of wear to the paint and gilt, but essentially it has been able to age gracefully. All drawers run well and the frame is solid. This particular chest is has a good weight to it.
I can see this working really well in a hall with perhaps an oval gilt mirror above, a nice alternative to a typical console table.
Measuring:
31 inches or 79 cm height
30 inches or 76 cm wide
13 inches or 33 cm deep Based in Uppingham, Rutland…having been in the business for 25 years focusing on mostly French and English decorative antiques and interiors from the 18th to the early 20th century, hopefully a collection you will enjoy browsing and hopefully re home some of my finds!
