Inlaid Mahogany Pedestal Desk by Edwards & Roberts
A fine quality 9 drawer mahogany pedestal desk by the esteemed firm of Edwards and Roberts of London. Of excellent construction in solid mahogany with attractive mahogany veneers. The top of the desk and the drawer fronts are all cross banded with satinwood. Further inlaid stringing is found throughout, including to the plinths, the sides and back of the desk. As it is finished to the rear it could be free-standing within a room if desired. The desk top is fitted with a sumptuous red leather writing surface , decorated with blind tooling. We have had this lovely desk sympathetically repolished to a very high standard. It has a wonderful colour and patina and is now offered for sale in excellent condition, ready to go straight into the home or office.

Edwards & Roberts was founded in 1845, and had premises at 21 Wardour Street London. By 1892 they occupied more than a dozen buildings in Wardour Street, where they continued to trade until the end of the century. They became one of the leading London cabinet makers and retailers working in a variety of styles, both modern and revivalist. Their business also involved retailing, adapting and restoring the finest antique furniture and there are many examples of their earlier antique furniture with later embellishments bearing their stamp.
